Date a girl who travels…
The sun will be her natural glow, she’ll smell of lilacs or lilies or lavender, and when you’re apart, the wind will carry her essence to you.
Date a girl who travels…
She won’t be ruled by hair processes every six weeks.
She’ll be all too willing to twist it up or let it go wild and curly or cut it off and enjoy a jungle rain storm hike or an impromptu swim in the Mediterranean.
Date a girl who travels…
She can make any dwelling place livable for a day, a week, a month…
She understands the art of making any space comfortable…and she’ll understand the beauty of a place to come home to after every mini-adventure.
Date a girl who travels…
She’ll be just as comfortable eating at a hole-in-the-wall local joint or a 5 star restaurant, the unrecognizable will be a sought after treat, and when the unrecognizable isn’t enjoyable it won’t be the end of her world.
Date a girl who travels…
She knows how to be frugal and still have an amazing time. She understands the art of budgeting and is an expert at punctuating every well thought out plan with fly by the seat of your pants moments.
Date a girl who travels…
She’ll show you God in places you never thought to look.
Date a girl who travels…
She won’t feel the need to fill every moment with conversation. On the contrary, she’ll revel in silence knowing that those are the moments when profound revelations are revealed. If you ask her what she’s thinking she may share…and it may be the most profound conversation you’ll ever have…but make sure you ask.
Date a girl who travels…
She knows how to book the flights and hotels, and knows how to enjoy all the “off the beaten path” and possibly dangerous excursions.
Date a girl who travels…
…she’s strong, she’s independent, she’s resourceful, she’s street wise and book smart. She has an entrepreneurial spirit. She can take any idea and help you expand it into a profitable venture. When the money is low, she can manage it. When the money gets high, she can manage it.
Date a girl who travels…
She’s been so many places by herself and doesn’t mind the solitude of her own company. So when she invites you along, it’s not because of a lonely need but a desire to have your company.
Sure, she needs you, but she also wants you.
Date a girl who travels…
…and when you look into her eyes and see the horizon…then…
Marry a girl who travels.
And travel…
Wow T, loved this one!

This is beautiful! It made me think of the trip my boyfriend and I just recently took to the Virgin Islands. The trip started off bumpy due to a delayed flight, but it turned out great.
Love your blog.

Beautiful poetry! I agree with all of the above. Well maybe not the silent part. I’m hardly ever silent. Lol. Thx for writing this to shed light on all the benefits of dating a girl who travels since people usually focus on the negative points.

I think it is important to date people, or have friends that travel. Having people like that in your circle really serve to open minds. Thanks for your eloquent writing on the various aspects of travel.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. I think you’re right! Travel definitely gives a broader view of the world at large and gives us a greater perspective on our place in the world. We realize that we are not alone, that there are people just like us everywhere, and that we are, at our core, the same. We become global citizens, not only concerned about our neighborhood or town, but the neighborhood or town on the other side of the globe. It gives us an education that no book could ever provide!

Thank you so much for your comment! I think you’re absolutely right. We gain so much perspective when we give ourselves the gift of discovering the world outside of our little sphere. We really discover that, at our core, we are pretty much the same, wanting, needing, and desiring the same things!
